The Gateway of India is a monumental arch monument situated in the Colaba district of Mumbai, India. This iconic structure is one of the most significant landmarks in Mumbai and attracts numerous tourists every year. The Gateway of India was built in 1924 to commemorate the visit of King George V and Queen Mary to Mumbai, the former British colony.

The arch is made of yellow basalt and reinforced concrete, and stands at 26 meters high. The Gateway of India is not only a representation of Mumbai's rich colonial history, but is also a symbol of India's freedom struggle as it was the departure point for the last British troops to leave India in 1948. The location is also popular for its scenic view of the Arabian Sea and the nearby Taj Mahal Hotel. It is a great place to take pictures and enjoy the sunset view. In addition, it offers access to boat rides to the nearby Elephanta Caves, known for their beautiful ancient rock-cut temples and sculptures.
