Varca is a beautiful village located in the southern region of Goa, India. This place is a popular tourist destination due to its stunning beaches with white sands and crystal clear waters. Varca has a rich history, which is worth exploring, as well as other interesting modern attractions. Historically, Varca was a part of the Salcete kingdom, which was ruled by Portuguese until 1961 when Goa became a part of India. The village has numerous historical buildings and churches, most notably the Our Lady of Gloria Church, which was constructed in the 17th century by the Portuguese. The church has a beautiful baroque architecture and is one of the most visited attractions in Varca. Apart from the historical buildings, Varca is also popular for its beach, which stretches for about 10 km. Tourists can take a leisurely stroll along the beach, indulge in water sports activities like parasailing, jet-skiing, and banana boat rides or just relax on the beach while enjoying the scenic view of the Arabian Sea. There are several beach shacks and small restaurants that serve up delicious Goan cuisine, including fresh seafood. For those interested in water-based activities, there is also the River Sal, which flows through Varca and is perfect for kayaking and boating. Tourists can also visit the numerous spice plantations in and around Varca, which offer guided tours and allow visitors to see how spices like pepper, turmeric and cinnamon are cultivated.
