Shenzhen, located in the Guangdong Province of China, is a bustling metropolis and a hub for technology and manufacturing industries. Despite its status as a modern city, Shenzhen still maintains a significant amount of historical significance. This city has a population of more than 10 million. Shenzhen officially became a city in 1979, and since then, it has become one of the most thriving metropolitan areas in China. Its rapid development mostly owes to its position as the first Special Economic Zone in China which allowed it to attract huge investments. Over the years, Shenzhen's economy has flourished on the development of manufacturing. Shenzhen is now a city of modern skyscrapers and tech parks, but visitors can still catch a glimpse of its historical past. The Dapeng Fortress is an excellent example of this. Built-in 1394, the fortress is one of the oldest and best-preserved military buildings from the Ming Dynasty. For tech enthusiasts, Shenzhen is an absolute paradise. Shenzhen is home to the world's largest electronics market, the Huaqiangbei Electronics Market. Here, numerous vendors sell various electronic products, ranging from small gadgets to large appliances. Many of the products sold here are manufactured in Shenzhen or other parts of China, making them available for purchase at very competitive prices. Visitors can also visit the Shenzhen Science and Technology Museum which features interactive exhibits that demonstrate the latest technology and scientific discoveries.
