Shanghai is a bustling and dynamic metropolis in eastern China, located along the shores of the East China Sea. The city is the largest in China in terms of population and is considered a global financial hub, making it a popular destination for business travelers and tourists alike.
Shanghai has a rich and fascinating history dating back to the Tang Dynasty (618-907 AD), when it was a small fishing village. Yet, it wasn't until the mid-19th century that Shanghai began to emerge as a major international trading port, attracting merchants from around the world. In fact, by the turn of the 20th century, Shanghai was one of the busiest ports in Asia, and it continued to thrive throughout much of the 20th century.
The Oriental Pearl Tower stands at over 468 meters tall and features an observation deck with stunning views of the city. Another notable attraction is the Bund, a historic district along the Huangpu River that features a collection of European-style buildings from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Tourists can also explore the Yuyuan Garden, a classical Chinese garden that dates back to the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644 AD). In addition, Shanghai is also known for its vibrant food scene. Some popular dishes to try include steamed dumplings (xiaolongbao), stir-fried noodles (chow mein), and soup dumplings (tangbao).
